Stone Soup - September 12

STONE SOUP - SEPTEMBER 12

What:  This event will have United Way of Butte and Anaconda asking community members to contribute an ingredient and participate in making meals - casserole or hearty soup - for the hungry in our midst.  This event will piggy-back on the 9/11 gathering of garden vegetables spearheaded by NCAT's Garden Gleaning Project.  The vegetables will be cleaned and processed at the Butte Emergency Food Bank on September 11th.  Completed items will be packaged and then distributed at the Butte Emergency Food Bank.

Where:  Assembly of soups and casseroles will be completed at the Silver Bow Developmental Disabilities Council's kitchen, 305 W Mercury, #105.

When:  September 12, 2015 - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

How:  Our first goal is to provide 100 families with prepared soups and casseroles using fresh vegetables from our community.  Our second goal is to have 50 volunteers, including individuals, families and children provide one ingredient for the meals, then make and assemble them.  Statistics provided by other United Ways show that 10-15 volunteers can assemble five casseroles in 15 minutes.
